Sciatica Exercise Video: The Downward Facing Dog

The Downward facing Dog also makes an appearance in the Saluet To The Sun.

When you start, you might find it difficult to hold the stretch for any period of time, and quite uncomfortable. but pain relief and flexibility come with practice, so keep at it!

This video has some fooling around at the start, but the exercise is definitely worthwhile.

Hey my view is any day my back feels good is a fun day, but if you're not in the mood for a bit of humor just ignore the fooling around.

 

 

OK, OK, the Downward Facing Dog will never be the same again! Who said exercise couldn't be fun?

But seriously, it is an excellent stretch for everything from your hamstrings to your shoulders and its quick and easy to do once you have got the hang of it.

As you straighten your legs you should feel a strong pull in your hamstrings and again in your shoulders as you put your head in between your arms.

That's good just hold the stretch - even if there is some discomfort (as long as there isn't pain) for 10 seconds then release, rest and do it again.
