How Reiki Can Relieve Back Pain &
Improve Your Health
Reiki is a Japanese word meaning "universal life force energy".
It is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing
and self-improvement that everyone can use.
The benefits of Reiki are that it brings about deep
relaxation, destroys energy blockages, detoxifies the system,
provides new vitality in the form of healing universal life
energy, and increases the vibrational frequency of the body. As
such it is also useful for treating back pain and as a sciatica
treatment.
Reiki treatment aims to improve health and enhance the
quality of life by treating the whole person including body,
emotions, mind and spirit. It follows a traditional pattern of
hand positions, resting without pressure on or above the body.
Typically, the healer places their hands above the
recipient.
The difference between Reiki and spiritual healing is that
the patient (or recipient) draws the energy as needed, thus
taking an active part in the healing process and responsibility
for their healing. In contrast, in spiritual healing the
patient has a passive role as recipient of the healing
energy.
There are several forms of Reiki now being practiced. The
two principal ones are: "the Usui System of Natural Healing"
and "the Radiance Technique."
What Has Reiki Got To Do With My
Back?
If you ask most back specialists they will tell you how your
back is linked to virtually everything else in your body. In
addition, they will describe how the health and state of your
back has a direct influence on most other bodily functions.
For example, if a certain part of your back is 'out' or
'subluxated', it could affect your digestion or your bowel
movements. Similarly, if your neck is 'out' you might have a
runny or blocked nose. These effects manifest right around your
body.
The back and spinal cord form the major transmission conduit
for signals to and from the nerves in your body. These signals
are scientifically measurable as electrical impulses.
Interestingly, your back has a structure very similar to the
capacitor which is a storage device for electrical energy.
Anyway, 'behind' or 'underneath' the measurable electrical
energy that activates your nerves, there is another type of
energy. This is your life force energy, whose effects can be
measured and photographed.
It operates at a more fundamental level to the electrical
nerve-related energy, because it underpins everything that
happens within your body. As such, disruptions to it manifest
(appear) ultimately as physical symptoms or problems.
In traditional healing practices, this energy was always
treated first, whereas in western medicine, the physical
symptom is usually treated first. You can see that treating the
physical symptom is not treating the source of the underlying
disruption, although it may mask some of the effects.
Because your back is a major energy conduit and storage
area, it is more susceptible to disruptions in this energy
which then manifest as 'back problems' such as lower back pain,
sciatica, a stiff neck and so on.
This is why energy treatments that work on the fundamental
energy of your body are often successful after mainstream
treatment has failed.
Understanding The Link Between Your
Energy Systems and Health
"In every culture and in every
medical tradition before ours, healing was accomplished by
moving energy."
Albert Szent-Gyorgyi, Nobel Laureate in Medicine
What Is "Life Force
Energy"?
This is described as Ki, Chi in Chinese, Prana in Sanskrit
and Ti or Ki in Hawaiian (and orgone by some including the
legendary heavy/psychedelic rock band Hawkwind, from whence
springeth Lemmy of Motorhead, but that is indeed a whole other
story!).
Anyway, Ki or Chi is the vital life force or the universal life
force. It is the non-physical energy that animates all living
things (and some people say it is also present in items we
currently deem to be inanimate, albeit at a different level of
vibration).
As long as something is alive, it has life force circulating
through it and surrounding it, which can be seen as san aura
using specialised photography and measured using special
instruments; when it dies, the life force departs.
If your life force is low, or if there is a restriction in
its flow, you will be more vulnerable to illness,
lower back pain or sciatica. When it is high, and flowing
freely, you are less likely to get sick.
