Better Back Video Index
These videos are for customers of the Better Back Book and Better Back System and they're intended to show you how to do the exercises.
- Start with the exercises shown in videos 1-4 and do them in the order they are numbered.
- Refer to the note below on the exercise bands that you need for exercises 1-4. (Note if you want to get started straight away, you can do exercise 1 wth a rolled up towel).
- Do the first 4 exercises for about 2 weeks and then move onto the other exercises if you want to. You will almost certainly get the results you want with exercises 1-4.
- Exercises 5 and up are more demanding and are there for you if you want to enhance your flexibility and strength as you feel capable of doing so.
- As always, exercise within your limits, especially if you haven't exercised regularly in recent times before starting these exercises. Build up gradually, you'll get the best results that way.
i.e. Don't do what I sometimes do, which is to get carried away, do too much and then be too sore to do anything for a few days afterwards.

Note: Excuse the knobbly knees and the noises from the local wildlife in the background (they are magpies and cockatoos in Sydney Australia). :-)

I also recommend you watch the 2 videos in Newsletter #3 which I found both moving an dinspiring and a reminder of how precious good health is and ho weasy it is to take it for granted.
Exercise Bands
In videos 1-4 you'll see I'm using a rubber exercise band. You can buy the bands from most sporting goods shops. The ones we are using at the moment are called "Thera-Band" and are made by the Hygenic Corporation in Ohio Tel (330) 633 8460.
You do not have to get this particular brand though, they are just ordinary exercise bands and similar ones are fine.
Usually they come in different strengths or resistance measures and you can often buy a pack with a selection of 2 or 3 different strengths. It's better to start off with the easier ones until you get used to the exercises.
Below you can see a picture of the front and back of a box of exercise bands from Thera-Band. This particular box contained 2 bands, a blue (intermediate/ advanced - the second strongest) and black (advanced - the strongest).
A different box was also available that contained 3 bands. These were a yellow band (beginner), a red and a green (intermediate). This would be a good selection to start with for most people.
